NIFT Admission 2011 UG (Undergraduate) Programme All Information. (Apply Online)
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.

Is there any minimum percentage required in to apply for NIFT entrance exam?
No. Only the pass grade is required.
Please note that the upper age limit for applying in bachelor programmes is restricted to 23 years as on 1st November, 2010.

The Written entrance exam is designed to test the knowledge, skills and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted.

The objective types tests are subject to negative marking. The nagative marking will apply at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer
GAT (General Ability Test)
This test will comprise of various sub-tests
- Quantitative Ability : This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio & Proportion, and Distance.
- Communication Ability : This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes question on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms & phrases, correct spellings, etc.
- English Comprehension : This sub-test is to test one’s ability to comprehend a situation fro, a given passage.
- Analytical Ability : This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s inference and logic from the given information.
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs : This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s general knowledge & current affairs.
CAT (Creative Ability Test)
- This test is administered to judge the skill, power of observation, innovation & design ability of the candidate.
- An important aspect of the test is the candidate’s usage of colour and illustration.
Situation Test
- Shortlisted candidates from the written entrance examination are required to undergo a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling & innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.
MAT (Managerial Ability Test)
It is a test to judge the managerial effectiveness. This test comprises of various sub-test.
- Case Study : This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate’s managerial ability.
- Logical Ability : This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem given & applying the logic in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative & lateral thinking are likely to be useful.

Subsidy
NIFT offers fee subsidies to students who are in need of financial assistance. Students who are interested in availing this facility should submit their application along with parental income certificate and contact the Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) at their Centre after admission.
As per policy, the subsidies details are as under.

The students are informed that the subsidy forms can be downloaded from the NIFT website (www.nift.ac.in) and the following instruction may be noted.
“It may be noted that the full fee need to be deposited by all students before the last date of fee depositing. For those who submit the subsidy form, the reimbursement of fee equal to the amount of subsidy will be made to the deserving candidates by the earliest after scrutinizing and verification of supporting documentation in support of their eligibility as required by NIFT rules.”
