AIEEE–2011 (Apply Online)
The Tenth All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) for admission to the BE/B.Tech & B.Arch/B.Planning courses in various institutions, including the National Institutes of Technology, IIITs, Deemed Universities, Technical Institutions and other Govt. funded Institutions will be held on 24th April, 2011 at over 84 centers across the country and at two centers outside the country.

Fees For Applying
AIEEE 2011 Analysis
- AIEEE 2011 was a 3 hour paper with 90 questions in total for 432 marks
- 30 questions in each of the subjects.
- Each subject had 24 questions of 4 marks and 6 questions of 8 marks
- Hence 144 marks in total per subject.
- There were 4 choices in all questions.
- There were 4 versions – A,B,C and D.
- The order of the subject and the choices were completely jumbled in these 4 versions.
- In Mathematics, there were 5 questions of Assertion-Reasoning type, where as Physics had only 2.
- In Physics, there were 2 comprehension based sets – one with 3 questions and the other with 2 questions.
- Chemistry did not have any comprehension based or assertion-reasoning based questions.
- 8 marks questions were generally tougher/time consuming compared to 4 mark questions.
- Many problems in Physics required sound conceptual understanding.
- The choices for many numerical are so wisely set that if the student makes a mistake in one of the step, he/she will end up in a wrong answer.
- Mathematics questions were more student friendly compared to previous year.
Pattern of Examination:
- AIEEE will consist of 2 papers.
- Paper 1 – Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (24/4/2011, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm)
- Objective type questions with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
- Paper 2 to be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 24.4.2011, will consist of Mathematics in Part I with objective type questions, Aptitude Test in Part II with objective type questions and Drawing Test under Part III having questions to test Drawing Aptitude.
Papers to appear:
- Those who wish to be considered for B.E/B.Tech courses only will have to appear for Paper 1 only
- while those desirous of joining B.Arch/B.Planning only,will have to appear for Paper 2
- Those desirous of being considered for B.E/B.Tech as well as B. Arch/B.Planning should appear for both the papers.
Syllabus:
The question papers for the Examination will be based on a common minimum syllabus drawn from syllabi taught in different State Boards. Detailed syllabus is given in the Information Brochure that can be downloaded from clicking here.
Online Examination and Centers:
- Examination will also be held online for a maximum of 1 Lack candidates in a city for BE/B.tech only, on first-come-first-serve basis.
- The candidates may opt a city of their choice.
- The cities where online examination facility is provided are as follows.
Allahabad (Code 501), Ahmedabad (502), Bangaluru (503), Bhopal (504), Bhubaneshwar (505), Ernakulam (506), Chennai (507), Chandigarh (508), Dehradun (509), Delhi (510), Guwahati (5110, Hyderabad (512), Jaipur (513), Jalandhar (514), Kolkata (515), Lucknow (516), Mumbai (517), Nagpur (518), Noida (519) and Trivandrum (520).
- The pattern of question paper & time duration of online examination and offline examination would remain the same.
- Candidates will be informed by various modes about their center, date & time of online examination.
- Those desirous of appearing for the online examination should apply online only through the AIEEE website.
- They should remit the fee by Credit/Debit card only.
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicant must have passed the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent of any one of the following qualifying examinations with 50% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PH category.
(i) The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi
(ii) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University
(iii) Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
(iv) Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system
(v) H.S.C. Vocational Examination
(vi) A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects
(vii) 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
Subject Combination required at qualifying examination:
- For admission to the B.E/B.Tech Programs, applicant should have studied Physics & Mathematics and any one of Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science or Biology.
- For admission to the B.Arch/B.Planning, applicant should have studied Mathematics and should have secured 50% marks in aggregate at 10 + 2 level.
Appearing candidates:
- Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination can appear for AIEEE 2011 provisionally.
- Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) Examination in 2012 or those who have passed the qualifying examination in 2008 or before are not eligible to appear for AIEEE 2011.
Number of attempts:
- A candidate can attempt All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination 3 times, in consecutive years.
- This clause is uniformly applicable to all candidates.
- Only those who passed +2 examination in 2009, 2010 or those appearing in +2 in 2011 are eligible to appear in AIEEE-2011.
- Those who passed +2 in 2008 or before or those appearing in 2012 are not eligible to appear in AIEEE-2011.
Date of Birth:
- Applicant should have been born on or after October 1, 1986.
- In respect of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.
- SC/ST/PH candidates born on or after October 1, 1981 are eligible.
Online Application:
- Application can be submitted online till 5 pm on 14.1.2011 at http://aieee.nic.in/aieee2011/aieee/online/onlineform.aspx as per the instructions given at http://aieee.nic.in/aieee2011/aieee/online/instruction.aspx.
- On submission of the required details, a Confirmation page with Registration Number will be generated.
- Applicant should take a printout of the Confirmation page, paste his/her photographs, put left hand thumb impression, sign in the space earmarked for the purpose and write the Residential Address.
- The confirmation Page is to be sent by Registered/Speed Post to CBSE.
- Fee can be paid either by Credit Card or by Demand Draft from any scheduled commercial bank.
- Those intending to appear for the online examination, should apply online only through the AIEEE website.
- Such applicants have to pay the fees by credit/ debit card only.
- Those applying online should retain a photocopy of Confirmation Page with Registration No. and also a copy of mode of remittance of Examination fee.

Schedule of JEE-2011
The examination will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 as per the schedule given below:

Type of Examination

The candidate can opt. for Question Paper either in English or in Hindi

There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration.
-
Both the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
-
They will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
-
The answers for each of the questions are to be recorded on a separate, specially designed, machine-gradable sheet of paper (ORS – Optical Response Sheet).
-
While answering each of the questions the candidate is expected to darken the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) using hard black (HB) pencils only.
-
In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded negative marks.

The detailed syllabi based on which JEE-2011 will be conducted, for the three subjects, namely, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
Eligibility For JEE-2011
-
Candidates belonging to GE and OBC categories must be born on after October 01,1986.
-
SC,ST, and PD candidates who born on or after October 1, 1981 are eligible to appear JEE-2011.
-
Candidate must have passed the QE (Qualification Examination), namely, 12th standard or any equivalent examination.
-
Candidates belonging to GE and OBC categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their QE.
-
SC, ST and PD candidates must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in their QE.
Important Points to Note
-
A candidate can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means one should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2010 or will be appearing in 2011. I

If any candidate has accepted admission after qualifying in JEE in earlier years by paying registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad, he/she will not be eligible to write JEE at all, irrespective of whether the candidate joined or not in any programmes.
Reservation of Seats
-
Categories SC – 15%, ST – 7.5% and OBC – 27%, seats are reserved in all IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad are qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion.

For PD (Person with Disability), including leprosy-cured candidates, who are otherwise fit to purse the course, and qualify JEE with relaxed norm relevant to this category, 3% seats are reserved in each of the categories (GE,OBC,SC & ST) as specified by the Govt. of India.

For any category of disability (viz., locomotors, visual, dyslexia, speech, and/or hearing) benefit would be given to those who have at least 40% physical impairment.

Online: For On-line submission of applications, Click Here and carefully follow the Instructions given therein. Candidates can pay the application fee through NEFT or through challan of selected banks. The application fee for On-line mode is Rs. 450/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates and Rs. 900/- for all other candidates.

Offline : A candidate can buy an application form with Information Brochure from any one of the designated branches of banks by paying Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates (Light YELLOW envelope) or Rs. 1000/- for all other candidates (WHITE envelope).
